This is one of the strange entries from my blog, an English teacher's blog. The thing is, I'm learning Chinese Chinese language courses at the Dmitry Nikitin School in Yaroslavl. About the tactics and methods that I use to more effective learning Chinese, I already wrote in the record. And today I would like to tell you about Chinese learning dictionaries, which help me in the exciting business of learning Chinese.

I must say right away that (it happened so by chance) I know English quite well, and therefore most of the Chinese dictionaries that I use contain comments mainly in English.

Chinese dictionaries based on English

• user-friendly interface, in which there is a lot of “air”, and therefore the dictionary is very easy to use;
• dictionary recognizes handwriting;
• determines the order of lines in a Chinese character;
• in the dictionary, each character is voiced.

• sometimes translated into English inaccurate, which I learn about in class with a Chinese tutor. This, however, can be said of all Chinese translation dictionaries and can probably be explained by the huge cultural difference between European and Asian languages.

I use this Chinese dictionary to determine the etymology of a Chinese word, identify constituent parts Chinese characters.

Pros of this Chinese dictionary:

• you can click on a part of the hieroglyph, and you will be shown one of its components;
• the etymology of Chinese characters in English is very well disclosed.

I use this Chinese dictionary to determine the sound of Chinese characters, study the order of lines in Chinese characters, determine the frequency of a particular Chinese character, memorize stable phrases with Chinese characters. The latter is especially important to me, since I believe that any foreign language must be learned by memorizing phrases and set expressions, what I write about in the records, , .

Pros of this Chinese dictionary:

• the constituent components of Chinese characters and the order of the lines are clearly visible;
• phrases with Chinese characters are given;
• the pronunciation of both Chinese characters and their constituent parts is demonstrated;
• the frequency of use of hieroglyphs is indicated.

I use this Chinese dictionary to break down Chinese characters into their component parts so that you can memorize the characters more effectively.

Pros of this Chinese dictionary:

• the information is structured in the form of a tree, so the connection of one Chinese character with another is clearly visible.

I did not find any cons of this Chinese dictionary.

I use this Chinese dictionary to determine the dictionary meaning of Chinese characters, clarify the meaning of jargon, clarify the meaning of professional and academic Chinese vocabulary.

Pros of this Chinese dictionary:

• very good for translating texts from Chinese to other languages ​​and from other languages ​​to Chinese.

This Chinese dictionary has no cons. A very useful site for learners of Chinese.

Educational explanatory dictionaries of the Chinese language

I use this Chinese dictionary to look up the meaning of Chinese idioms, set expressions and anything else that I couldn't find in other Chinese dictionaries.

• this Chinese dictionary is edited by users (like Wikipedia), which makes it quite up-to-date and colloquial;
• all necessary actions understandable intuitively.

I use this Chinese dictionary as my main one.

Pros of this Chinese dictionary:

• allows you to hear the pronunciation of the hieroglyph;
• gives the meaning of the character;
• offers options for stable combinations with the given hieroglyph;
• demonstrates the historical version of the writing of the hieroglyph and the transformation of the spelling;
• the mobile version is downloaded using the QR code posted on the site.

I did not find any cons of this Chinese dictionary.

Sometimes you need to know the interpretation of a word in order to use it correctly in context, for this there are Chinese explanatory dictionaries, they give an interpretation of words in Chinese, which is very useful for intensive study. The most popular dictionaries in this category are Zdic (http://www.zdic.net/) and Baidu Dictionary (°Щ¶ИґКµд) (http://dict.baidu.com/).

Zdic - in this dictionary are given detailed definitions, interpretations, etymology, stroke order, English translation and detailed information for each character separately.

Baidu Dictionary (°Sch¶IґKµd) - In fact, Baidu is a huge search engine, like our Yandex, and it also has its own dictionaries, so translators with good command of the language can search there and get answers accordingly. This online dictionary contains a huge number of idioms, proverbs, common expressions and other words that are often not found in other dictionaries. Constantly updated by users, quite detailed and easy to design.

Online dictionaries for translating into Traditional Chinese

There are also online dictionaries for translating into traditional Chinese, such dictionaries are more suitable for professionals than for beginners, for people who have not been working with wenyan for the first time. Chinese check spelling (Chinese spell checker) (http://www.kwuntung.net) - in this dictionary you can check the use of variants of hieroglyphs in different words; Dictionary of hieroglyphic variants (http://dict2.variants.moe.edu.tw/variants/) - this dictionary looks for different (obsolete) variants of hieroglyphs, an indispensable site for advanced translators. Very detailed compared to other dictionaries. Sometimes contains old examples, complex explanations, too detailed interpretations, so that it may be difficult for beginners to use; Dictionary of Taiwan Ministry of Education for elementary school(http://dict.mini.moe.edu) - This dictionary contains interpretations of single characters and phrases in Chinese, more understandable than the Chinese Dictionary of the Taiwan Ministry of Education. But the inconvenience of use lies only in the fact that the search is possible only by single hieroglyphs; Taiwan Ministry of Education Dictionary of Stroke Order (http://stroke-order.learningweb.moe.edu) - This dictionary can check the order of strokes in a character and the current writing standard in Taiwan, the dictionary is quite detailed, well structured.

I recently found sites Chinese-Russian dictionary online. They have a wonderful convenient function - manual input of hieroglyphs. So I decided to talk about these sites.

One of the biggest difficulties in learning Chinese is the characters. And many will agree with this. And lately hieroglyphs are interesting not only for those who study Chinese.

In general, find a good Chinese-Russian dictionary-online turned out to be not easy. At one time I used one such dictionary, in general, complete, good. But if you don’t know how to pronounce a hieroglyph, and this hieroglyph is not written in electronic form, but, for example, on paper, on clothes or even on wallpaper, then finding this hieroglyph in such a dictionary was as difficult as in a paper dictionary.

There is a strong opinion that learning Chinese is extremely difficult or almost impossible. Nevertheless, most linguists and experts specializing in China agree that for full communication, reading major newspapers and even many books, knowing just 3000 characters is enough.

Everyone Chinese character- this is a separate syllable that can be pronounced in one of five keys. It is the tones of the Chinese language that are the most difficult to study, because there are analogues in mother tongue usually not. Second tone- ascending from medium to high, sounds like a peculiar question. Denoted má or ma2.

Third tone- low falling, and then rising to the average level. The tone is more like the Russian interjection "Well!?". Denoted mă or ma3.

fourth tone- falling from high level to low, sounds like a kind of statement. Denoted mà or ma4.

A syllable without a tone- is not indicated in any way and is pronounced without tonality.

But the specificity of China and its inhabitants is such that the reference pronunciation of syllables is not widespread everywhere, and even after driving 500 kilometers to another point in the country or talking with a representative of Chinese nationality anywhere else in the world, you risk being misunderstood. That is why the hieroglyphic record for the Chinese is of the same importance, both within the country and abroad, which is played by any language of international communication common in the world for people from other countries.

To learn Chinese, you need to know 214 key characters, according to which Chinese and Japanese characters are most often located in dictionaries. These 214 keys will help you easily navigate new and still unfamiliar hieroglyphs, quickly find their meaning in dictionaries and reference books, and even approximately guess the meaning and pronunciation of hieroglyphs.

This is a pronunciation that "looks" differently in every language. The Chinese reading of each character is one and only one syllable. Graphics and semantics in historical development hieroglyphs appear in unity. Not only a complex character as a whole, but also individual graphemes carry a certain semantic load. In the ancient language, this connection was stronger, since hieroglyphs originated from drawings. It is impossible to determine what it means by the appearance of the modern hieroglyph alone, but some hints of this can still be found.
