Biography provided by Ufarkin Nikolai Vasilyevich (1955-2011)

Mikhail Agibalov was born on November 8, 1911 in the village. Zuevka, Samara province (now the Neftegorsk district of the Samara region). The family was large and poor, three years after the birth of Mikhail, his mother died and the children had to earn their own "bread" on their own. Very young, Mikhail also went to Samara, having lived for a short time with his older brother Ivan, a veteran civil war, he was assigned to the orphanage number 1.

After seven classes of school in 1928, Mikhail Agibalov graduated from the school of machinists (the future SPTU-28, where the museum will be formed), having received the specialty of a locomotive locksmith. Labor activity Agibalova began in the locomotive depot of the Samara station. For two years (1930-1932) he stayed on Sakhalin, going with other Samara volunteers to harvest timber and working as a tenant of the Pilvovsky timber industry enterprise.

After being drafted into the army in 1932, he served in an artillery regiment in the city of Nikolaevsk-Ussuriysky in 1932. Then Agibalov ended up in Ulyanovsk armored school, which ends in 1936. After serving in the Trans-Baikal Military District as commander of a tank platoon of the 1st tank battalion of the 32nd mechanized brigade.

From May 11 to September 16, 1939, Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Agibalov participated in battles with the Japanese on the river. Khalkhin Gol. Agibalov especially distinguished himself in the battle near the height of Bain-Tsagan on July 4-5, which received the nickname "Bain-Tsagan battle", when the Japanese lost about 10 thousand soldiers and officers and a significant part of the artillery. By this time, Agibalov had more than once had to get out of a burning tank. During the battle for the height, after the tank company had used up all the shells, Agibalov ordered to withdraw to their original positions and replenish their ammunition. The commander himself remained to hold his position.

During the battle, enemy soldiers began to surround Agibalov's tank with bamboo sticks, on which mines were planted. By that time, the crew had only 4 shells, 3 machine-gun discs and 8 grenades left. The driver and turret gunner threw all the grenades at once and destroyed all the attackers. After that, Agibalov directs the car to the machine-gun nests and crushes them. After that well-aimed shot destroys an enemy anti-tank gun. Sixteen times the tanks approached the hill, and finally managed to take the right position. After several attacks, the Japanese managed to knock out Agibalov's tank. The burned commander got out of the tank and was able to get to his own. For courage and heroism shown in battles, on August 29, 1939, Mikhail Agibalov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. He was one of the first of our compatriots to be so honored. The Government of the Mongolian Republic also awarded him the Order.

In 1940, Mikhail Agibalov became a student of the Academy of Mechanization and Motorization of the Red Army. But already in the autumn of 1941 he was among the graduates accelerated course Academy. Captain Agibalov was sent as commander of the 1st battalion of heavy and medium tanks of the 21st tank regiment of the 21st tank brigade. On October 16, the order was given to the brigade: "Tank regiments with an assault force of a company of submachine gunners make a deep raid behind enemy lines." The battalion was supposed to thwart the enemy's attack on Moscow here. Mikhail's wife Nadezhda was also in the capital...

On October 17, 1941, the commander of the 1st tank battalion, Captain Agibalov, received an order to go behind enemy lines along Volokolamsk highway to the city of Kalinin (now the city of Tver) near the village of Naprudny. Early morning tank group under the command of Agibalov entered the battle with the enemy troops, the entire enemy column was destroyed.

In the battle, Captain Agibalov destroyed up to 20 vehicles with infantry, 3 artillery pieces and up to 50 infantry, 3 firing points. In total, the battalion destroyed 170 vehicles, 38 tanks, up to 20 buses, 34 enemy guns, 28 mortars, 70 motorcycles, 2 aircraft, 2 radios, over 50 soldiers and officers, 12 fuel tanks, 3 field headquarters were defeated. The concentration of enemy forces to attack Moscow in this direction was thwarted. Agibalov's tank again covered the withdrawal of the battalion, which suffered heavy losses. In a wrecked tank, Agibalov fired back to the end, shooting himself after he ran out of all the shells and cartridges.

Mikhail Agibalov took the last battle on October 17, 1941, a little short of 30 years old. His remains were secretly buried by peasants from. Naprudnoe. Now he rests in mass grave in the village of Aksinkino, Tver region.

Somewhat strange is the fact that after his death, Agibalov was listed as missing in the order of the Main Directorate of Personnel of the NPO of the USSR, he was also listed as an irretrievable loss of the brigade, but then this reason was canceled.

The obelisks of the hero stand in his native village and there, at the place of his death. The museum and the school in the village are named after Mikhail Pavlovich Agibalov. Zuevka, club in with. Novoprudnoe. In the city of Samara, the name of Agibalov is the former Vokzalnaya Street, located in the Zheleznodorozhny and Leninsky districts. The renaming took place on the 40th anniversary of the Victory on April 4, 1985.
