Training in animal science at the technical school. Animal Husbandry and Animal Science - distance learning. Positive and negative aspects of the profession

The profession of zootechnician (zooengineer) is associated with animal husbandry and caring for livestock and poultry. Sometimes specialists are simply called livestock breeders.

Livestock specialists are engaged in providing optimal conditions for keeping and feeding animals in order to achieve high quality livestock and poultry. In large agro-enterprises, they are responsible for the correctness of technologies and compliance with standards and norms.

Livestock technicians are very similar to zooengineers, but the activities of the latter are aimed more at breeding animals, and the former - at controlling the breeding of existing livestock and birds.

Places of work

The position of livestock specialist is available at many enterprises of the agro-industrial complex - in collective farms, state farms, livestock farms, etc. Of course, most of the jobs for such specialists are located in the provinces, but there are offices of large agricultural companies in the capitals.

Responsibilities of a zootechnician

As a rule, the duties of a livestock specialist are as follows:

  • development of feed programs and recipes;
  • development of recommendations for feeding animals (schemes, nutritional value of diets, etc.);
  • visits to farms, poultry farms and pig farms to assess the situation on the spot;
  • product quality control;
  • process optimization;
  • consulting company specialists.

Also, the functions of a livestock specialist often include marketing tasks (promotion of products on the market, research on competitors, participation in the development of advertising).

Requirements for zootechnics

Typically, employers put forward the following requirements for livestock technicians:

  • higher or secondary zootechnical education;
  • deep knowledge in zootechnics;
  • knowledge of veterinary medicine;
  • possession of technology for the preparation of feed and feed;
  • dietary experience;
  • possession modern technologies in animal husbandry, increasing productivity and reproduction.

In large agricultural holdings, a livestock specialist is often required to have experience in managing people and knowledge of foreign languages.

Sample resume for livestock specialist

How to become a zootechnician

You can become a livestock specialist by obtaining a diploma of secondary vocational education in your specialty, however, a university diploma from the zooengineering or veterinary faculty will provide much more prospects for career growth.

livestock specialist salary

The salary of a livestock specialist can vary very significantly - from 20,000 (for beginners) to 150,000 rubles per month (for the main specialists of agricultural holdings). Also, the level of earnings depends on the region, the specifics of the enterprise and other factors.

The average salary of a livestock specialist is slightly higher than the national average for all professions - 34,000 rubles per month.

In veterinary and agricultural colleges, graduates of grades 9 and 11 can get the professions of a veterinarian, livestock specialist, cynologist, and groomer. In our review - veterinary, agricultural and cynological colleges in Moscow and the Moscow region.

There are no veterinary colleges in Moscow - 9th grade graduates who have chosen the profession of a veterinarian face such a problem. After grade 11, you can enter the Veterinary Academy. Scriabin, what about the graduates of the ninth? Particularly motivated high school students who are not embarrassed by territorial difficulties enter colleges in the Moscow region - there are such colleges in Kolomna, Elektrostal, Sergiev Posad, Volokolamsk. During the training, you can choose one of the specializations - a cynologist-instructor, trainer, handler (preparing dogs for exhibitions), nutritionist (development of nutrition programs for dogs), as well as obtain additional qualifications as a breeder, groomer. Contrary to popular belief, there are a lot of women among cynologists - and in the college there are approximately equal numbers of boys and girls who decide to study this specialty. For Grade 9 graduates budget places, 11th grade graduates study only for a fee.
