Professional translator from English. Yandex translator online with pronunciation of words. Google translator online pronunciation

Today it is impossible to imagine working with a computer, programs installed on it or office documents without knowledge of some foreign language, at least at the elementary (school) level. Of course, most often this refers to a language that is a kind of universal standard in the world. However, knowledge of other languages may often be required (for example, to master a specific program or translate correspondence from foreign partners from non-English speaking countries). And here, special translation programs and online systems provide invaluable assistance to many. machine translation, which are on this moment have very broad possibilities. But which translator is the best and most accurate? To answer this question, let's try to consider some of the most popular software products and online services, as well as find out the advantages and disadvantages of each of them.

Which one is best: the main problems of all machine translation systems

To begin with, let's immediately agree that we will not separate programs according to the possibility of their installation in stationary or mobile operating systems. Almost each of the applications below has versions for different operating systems. As for online translators, they can be used at all, regardless of which system is installed on a computer or mobile device, because all you need is a web browser and access to the Internet.

Before considering the most popular programs and services, it is worth mentioning separately that not all of them are equal in terms of translation quality and basic features. It is believed that none of the known programs or related services is not able to fully provide an accurate translation from any language. This is mainly due only to the peculiarities of the use of certain expressions, even in different regions of the same state. In addition, variations of the same language (dialects), depending on the region, can differ quite strongly.

An example is the huge difference between American, pure English, Scottish and Irish dialects. In the same Ukraine, the language used in the western regions is so different from the one used by the central and eastern regions that residents often understand each other with difficulty (and this is not even talking about pronunciation!). Finally, the construction of sentences can change quite a lot, and if you strictly follow the rules for the use of words and their location in a sentence, the translation can turn out to be, as they say, “clumsy”. Yes, and in specific narrowly focused areas of translation, problems can be observed. That is why it is almost impossible to say unequivocally which translator is the best.

However, machine translation is machine translation, because even in terms of reference, translation using automated systems experts do not welcome. And if it is possible to translate individual words, phrases or sentences very close to the original, then, alas, there can be no talk of translating entire texts containing the same idiomatic expressions, specific speech turns, proverbs or sayings.

The most popular translators and online services

But let's get back to the programs and services themselves. As for automated translation systems, which are used, for example, in the post-Soviet space most often, among all the huge variety that is currently represented on the software and online services market, several main systems can be distinguished separately:

  • Google translate;
  • "Yandex. Interpreter";
  • PROMPT;
  • Babylon 10;
  • SYSTRAN;
  • Babelfish;
  • ABBYY Lingvo;
  • "Proling OOFIS", etc.

Of course, this is only a small part of everything that is presented on the Internet, but for now let's limit ourselves to this.

Google Translate, Bing and Yandex.Translate

The first software product and a similar Internet service, as is already clear, is being promoted by Google, integrated into the browser and search engine of the same name.

It supports more than 90 languages, can recognize printed and handwritten text, voice, supports fast translation of inscriptions when you point the camera at them, translates entire pages by URL, has a very wide database of glossaries. This system copes with translations quite well, however, some functions, such as adding words and phrases to dictionaries, are available only after authorization.

The Bing search engine translator is actively promoted by Microsoft, however, it differs from the above product only in that it does not have voice acting and examples.

When discussing which translator is better, one cannot ignore the Russian Yandex service, which is very similar to Google and Bing in some ways.

It is more aimed specifically at the Russian-speaking audience, has almost the same capabilities and translates at about the same level. However, many users who ask questions about which translator is better - Yandex or Google - prefer the domestic service. If a we are talking about the translation of a single word or sentence, all these systems are on the same level. But many do not take into account that Yandex and Bing have limits on the number of characters entered (10,000 and 5,000, respectively), while Google does not have such a limit. But in Yandex and Google there is a transcription and options for using a word or phrase with examples of synonyms or antonyms, but this is not in Bing.

PROMPT

If we consider questions about which translator from English to Russian is the best of all existing ones, many experts and users prefer the PROMPT system.

You can install the program on a computer, integrate it into office text editors, or use the Translate.Ru online service. Both products are remarkable in that you can use the choice of translation topics, rather than looking for a meaning among all the options presented.

Compared to the systems described above, the list of examples of the use of a word or term is much wider. That's just the translation does not automatically appear immediately after entering the text.

Babylon

If you understand which translator is better, it is worth mentioning the Babylon 10 system separately.

This product is the most primitive and can only be used to translate one or more words, providing the user with related concepts as synonyms. It is not worth using it as a professional tool, but, for example, for schoolchildren or people who do not know a certain language, it is suitable precisely because of its simplicity. If you need a more functional solution, you can purchase special software options for business.

SYSTRAN

This translation system is one of the oldest, since the beginning of its development dates back to 1968.

The experience of its creators is really huge, but the main service looks too simple, and using additional functions is possible only after official registration or purchase of a software product.

Babel Fish

If you understand which translator is better, it is worth mentioning separately about this system. True, surprisingly, it is clearly not focused on Russian-speaking users.

It is not clear why, but there is support for the same Ukrainian language in the direction of translation, but there is no Russian language as such!

ABBYY Lingvo

Sometimes users have legitimate doubts about which translator is better than Google Translate or its analogues.

Without a doubt, ABBYY Lingvo is one of the most powerful systems because it supports a large number languages, allows you to translate texts even from pictures and photographs, gives several options for translating and using words, etc. However, not all language packs provide sound pronunciation. The hint system also looks quite interesting, when when entering a word and phrase, several examples of their use are immediately displayed, which sometimes helps to find the most accurate interpretation.

"Proling OFFICE"

As for the software products of this package, the Ruta / Play system is mainly used.

However, its specificity lies in the fact that it is designed exclusively for translations from Russian into Ukrainian and vice versa. Of course, the application can be integrated into text editors during installation, which is a very convenient solution for Ukrainian-speaking users. The quality of the translation is top notch, there are several additional dictionaries, but the online translation system looks somewhat inconvenient.

Which translator is the best and most accurate?

Needless to say, not all of them have been described above. existing systems machine translation, in fact there are many more, but these are the most popular. It remains to sum up. Speaking about which translator is better, by and large, it is impossible to single out one. However, if we take into account some features and features of both installed programs and online services available for use, preference can be given to Google, Yandex, PROMPT and ABBYY Lingvo products. Perhaps it is they who can share the first places among themselves and rightfully deserve all the attention from users.

The world is getting smaller and we are getting closer to each other, but the language barrier can be a big barrier to communication. The most accessible and efficient way to eliminate this obstacle is machine translation of the text. Free online translation of texts in English, Russian, French, German, Spanish, Chinese provides a real service. Machine translation of text has a number of disadvantages, but machine translation of text has its main advantage - this service is absolutely free. The translator is especially useful when translating individual words and expressions, for those who study a foreign language. We hope that you will like the "Translator" service and become a useful assistant when translating texts.

It is enough to enter the necessary text for translation and the language you want to translate into - the translator will determine what language it is written in and automatically translate.

Special attention giving sites written in multiple languages. For each studied text, the translator creates unique translation features (translation logic). The translator has the ability to learn hundreds of millions of phrases on the Internet using vast resources. Possibility:

How to improve the quality of online translation?

In the text, put punctuation marks, especially a period at the end of sentences.
- Avoid typos and mistakes!
- In languages like German or French, be sure to include diacritics.
- Write simple but complete sentences: "My online translator is translating the text."
- Using English as an example: it is better to write "it is" than "it" s", "can not" than "can" t", etc.
- Use only common abbreviations. Avoid jargon.
- If necessary, look in the dictionary to check disputed words, select more appropriate or more accurate synonyms, etc. The program will definitely not replace a live translator, but the help is often quite real. And do not forget to learn the language yourself in order to gradually discard the "electronic crutches" and start "walking on your own."
- .

Functions of an electronic translator:

The main task of the online version, of course, is the approximate translation of phrases, phrases, sentences and coherent text, whether it be personal or business correspondence by e-mail or "ICQ", site articles, all kinds of greetings or congratulations that need to be expressed to someone etc.

This handy program quickly translates an original message or file from English (or another foreign language - see menu) into Russian and vice versa. And just some 15 years ago, we could not have imagined that in the future it would be available like this, for free: take it and use it!

"Promt" and other applied technologies are quite effective. By the way, buyers are usually offered up to 6 electronic dictionaries as a gift: business, legal, sports, Internet dictionary, phrasebook, electronic dictionary traveler - with them the possibilities become even wider!

Among the programs there is also an electronic translator for Android, tablets, iPhones. Wherever you are, you will always have an electronic assistant "at hand" that will quickly (although, unfortunately, not always very accurately) provide you with translation support.

Benefits of buying professional electronic translators:

Result quality: professional programs Promt, although they are expensive, are easier to cope with complex texts. Unlike online versions, it is possible to create your own dictionaries and connect hundreds of ready-made ones. Programs of the Professional category are full-fledged business translation systems that can be configured for accurate, high-quality processing of specific texts (technical, financial and other documents).

Your time is greatly saved by batch processing of sources. And if you have your own dictionary or glossary of terms, you can quickly connect it to Promt.

It is also obvious that electronic translation is of better quality due to the use of dictionary databases. Suppose you come across an unfamiliar word or phrase in the text that is not in the program's dictionaries. Then you can use dictionary bases. For example, the "Multitran" dictionary contains more than eleven million words with transcription and phrases! In its databases, you can find the translation of the desired word and easily enter it into your translator's dictionary.

Also, your time can be significantly saved thanks to the database of electronic transfers "Translation Memory". Translations successfully made with Promt can be saved in the TM database for reuse, which is especially true for standard texts like legal documents.

The variety of translation languages is impressive. Those who do not have enough English can always use online translators of such languages as - see the rest above!

25.03 A good online translator from English in our time, oddly enough, must be a "polyglot", so the site now allows electronic translation into Spanish, German, Portuguese, Hindi, French, Turkish. Although it is not surprising that it is the Russian-English and English-Russian versions that are still most in demand - the majority of visitors choose these directions. In general, expand the drop-down list and pay attention: the program will help you quickly translate text in a variety of languages - including Arabic, Greek, Italian, Chinese ... And this is just the beginning. Recently, the site's capabilities have expanded even more - three new translation directions have been added: Bulgarian, Czech, Finnish. The quality of the result that "Promt" produces is not always ideal, but work is underway to improve it. It is also now possible to transliterate text for free and check spelling (spelling).

24.11 - Perhaps best online translator- this is how visitors recently described us. And it's true, recently the tool has been replenished with new languages, including: Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Estonian, Hebrew. We also note that the other day in the arsenal of our free "interpreter" appeared, let's say, more rare Polish, Serbian, Romanian- rare in the sense that they are less common in programs.
At the same time, thanks to the efforts of specialists, the translation of sentences and phrases is now possible into no less "exotic" Hungarian and Vietnamese. Successful application!

Rainbow Slov.Ru, 2019.

Hello. Today is an article about 13 best online translators in Russian. A couple of services, I think some people know and constantly use, including me. But the rest, to be honest, were new to me. As an example, I will use Russian-English text translator, it is in my opinion more used than other languages. I'll start with the most famous and domestic products.

Yandex translate

Recently, it has become more and more enjoyable for me. Acquired a lot of functions, the quality has noticeably improved thanks to the latest technologies in the field of neural network and statistical model, and more languages (at the moment there are about 100 of them). The resource allows you to translate the text (opens by default), the entire site and the text from the image.

How to translate text

How to translate a site

Click on the "Site" tab and paste the URL of the page. The system will do the rest.

How to translate text from an image

Click on "Picture". In the window that opens, mark the language. We drag the file directly onto the page or upload the image to the portal using the "Choose file" link for this.

Be sure to pay attention to the highlighted area of the letters. If some letters are shaded, then the quality of the translation will be inaccurate.

If everything is fine, in the upper right corner, click on the link "Open in Explorer".

Where on the new page and get the result.

I have already written an article on how this can be done in several ways. You can read this.

Google Translate

Compared to the previous one, the number of languages should be noted here - there are about 10 more of them (at the time of writing). There is a transcription and transliteration of the text, synonyms, similar words. Also, the entered and translated sentences can be saved, listened to, sent to a friend by mail or social network etc.

Very pleased with the mobile version. We download the application to a smartphone or tablet, download the languages, they do not take up space (Russian is about 36 megabytes), and you can start working without an Internet connection. We just take a picture of the text, inscription, etc. We select it on the screen and instantly get the result. You can also speak and write with the stylus.

Promt translator online

This, like the previous ones, is also Russian production. Personally, I met him back in the 2000s, when he did not have an online version. I installed it from a disk and translated printed text and Internet sites into an easy one. At that time, it caused a sensation, when there was neither Yandex nor Google, the brainchild of this direction.

Promt has both a translator and a dictionary.

ImTranslator

This is exactly the case if you need to translate the text and look at it in comparison of several options at once. Includes an extensive set of additional utilities.

Translate.com

Over 100 languages. Technology is used, more precisely, a dictionary from Microsoft Translator. You can use the microphone or the virtual keyboard to enter words. Additional services are offered for money.

Babelfish

I did not know about it before, which is understandable - a purely foreign product. As part of 75 languages, I did not find Russian, but Ukrainian is present. Can translate individual words, phrases, sentences, sites. And also translate Word online, PDF and txt.

Babylon

I dug it out for myself recently, although it is quite famous. 75 languages, over 2000 glossaries and dictionaries. There is a program for a PC, for individual users you can download it for free, which is more convenient in my opinion.

Deep L Translator

Everything is very high quality. In case you don’t like something, you can place an order with professionals – for a fee. I was very pleased that when translating, he can build logical sentences and choose different options for phrases. And this is rare!

bing

In my opinion, Bing, along with the services described here, is inferior to them in order, although it was developed by Microsoft. I will say this - he is simple. Although many people like it, a couple of users from my social circle willingly use it. A noticeable difference is the choice of male or female voice during dubbing. There are mobile apps for Andorid, IOS, Amazon and Windows.

Translating a letter from a foreign partner or a fragment from the documentation - these and other tasks caused by the need to quickly understand the content of the text in foreign language occur very frequently. Today, online translation services help to overcome the language barrier. By the Day of the Translator, which is celebrated on September 30, we will talk about the technologies on which the work of such services is based, get to know them ourselves and try to choose the best one.

Technology

There are two main technologies for machine translation: Rule-Based Machine Translation (RBMT) and Statistical Machine Translation (SMT). In the first, to obtain a translation, the known rules of the language, implemented in the form of linguistic algorithms, are applied to the text. The statistical technology does not use such algorithms: it gradually "learns" the language by comparing thousands of parallel texts - that is, texts containing the same information, but in different languages - and selecting the most probable translation option on this basis.

Let's consider these technologies in more detail.

Rule-Based Translation Process can be roughly divided into several stages.

  • Morphological analysis, during which the gender, number, person and other morphological characteristics of words are indicated. This raises the problem of ambiguity: the same word can refer to different parts speech. For example, the English "blow" can be used both as a verb (to blow, blow) and as a noun (breath). At this stage, both translation options are fixed.
  • Separate words are combined into groups. For example, the group "many nice letters" (a lot of good letters) consists of the quantitative word "many" to determine plural, the adjective "nice" and the plural noun "letters". This allows you to solve the problem with grammatical ambiguity and remove the "extra" meanings of words.
  • Parsing sentences, that is, the definition of the members of the proposal and their place in the proposal. First, the program looks for a predicate. Then, before the found predicate, the subject is searched. If it is not there, then the algorithm looks for the subject behind the predicate. If the subject is not there, then it is considered that the subject is absent, as happens, for example, in impersonal sentences("They brought the cake").

Coordination of the found parts of sentences and groups of dependent words - sentence synthesis.

A similar approach to translation is used in the SYSTRANet services of the SYSTRAN company and Translate.Ru of the Russian company PROMT.

The use of rules was the only way of machine translation until 2006, when the Google Translate service appeared, based on a different - statistical - approach to translation.

For your work statistical translation system needs an extensive database of parallel texts. The sources of such texts can be multilingual versions of organizations' websites, for example, databases of EU documents. At the same time, for the translator to work correctly, it is necessary to have in the database not just a large, but a huge number of parallel documents. No wonder that the first available statistical translator was the service of the largest search engine - Google. Soon, it was followed by competitors: Bing with Microsoft Translator and Yandex with Yandex.Translate.

By default, SYSTRANet offers translation of texts, web pages and dictionary work. Registered users additionally get access to the translation of RSS feeds, files and the " Own dictionary". Also, a free account allows you to use the options "Translate while typing", "Alternative word meanings", etc.

SYSTRANet also allows you to translate files in txt, rtf, htm formats. To improve the quality of translation, developers offer specialized dictionaries on nine topics. In total, more than 35 translation directions are declared in the system.

The online translator Translate.Ru by PROMT is the oldest in Runet. It currently supports 9 languages. Translate.Ru allows you to choose the subject of the text for a more accurate translation. Total available 16 thematic dictionaries(“Sports”, “Travel”, “Computers”, etc.). Pre-spell checking and dictionary function are supported. In order to view a list of translation options, you need to select a word in the window source code and then click on the "Dictionary" button on the toolbar - all variants known to the system will be displayed in a separate window.

Dictionary window intranslate. Ru

Bing Translator is based on Microsoft Translator, Microsoft's cloud-based statistical translation service. It supports 44 languages, including Russian and Ukrainian, has the functions of reading text, searching for text in a search engine, translating web pages and sending translations by e-mail. The limit on the size of the translated text is 5,000 characters.

Google's translation service is the most popular on the Internet. It supports 80 languages, including Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian. There is an instant translation function, when the result is displayed immediately after entering the source text. The translation direction is determined automatically. If you insert a web link into the translation field, the entire page will be translated. You can also translate documents in standard office formats and PDF format.

Of the useful functions of Google Translate, it should be noted that it is possible to get an alternative translation of individual words and phrases. In addition, the system has voice input and the ability to listen to the sound of the original text and translation - for example, you can play sounds from a tablet or smartphone, memorize them, and explain yourself in a foreign country.

There are no restrictions on the number of words in the processed text.

The online translation service from Yandex appeared in 2011 and currently provides the ability to translate in 46 languages, including Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian. Yandex.Translate works in two modes: translation of texts and translation of web pages. To translate a web page, you need to insert a link into the input field and click on the "Translate" button.

Service supports automatic detection language, the function of instant translation and hints when typing (using the first letters, the service tries to determine the continuation of the word, or, taking into account the context, suggests the most likely next word). For Russian, English and Ukrainian spell check available. You can also listen to the pronunciation of the translation and the original text.

In addition to translating text, Yandex.Translate allows you to view detailed dictionary entries from a machine dictionary, which include grouped translations, usage examples, and transcriptions for English words, parts of speech, etc. In addition, in the text input field it is possible to view synonyms for a particular word, which improves the quality of the translation. To view the dictionary and the list of synonyms, left-click on any word and hold for 1 second. When you select any synonym with the mouse, it will automatically replace the original word. Synonyms are available for Russian, English, Ukrainian and Belarusian words.

Auto. The cabin space has been updated and there are new paint and wheel options. Buyers will also be able to choose among an array of engines burning gasoline or diesel and with three or four cylinders. Options range from a 1.0-liter inline-three with 74 horsepower all the way up to a 1.4-liter turbo four with 148 . The suspension and steering systems have been reworked as well. (Seat reveals facelifted Ibiza hatchback family in Barcelona)

All translators had problems with the "as well" layout. For example, Google suggested the following: "The suspension and steering systems have been redesigned as well"). But everyone figured out the horsepower, even in the form of "hp", and Google and Yandex also showed translation options. And everyone has their own. Translate.Ru, without specifying the topic "Cars", stubbornly considered the "cabin" to be a cabin. But having tuned in, he gave out, perhaps, the most acceptable version of the translation. On the other hand, SYSTRANet approached this phrase: “The cabin space” he translated as “Cabin space”.

Football. Riyad Mahrez hit an early brace as Leicester City took another step towards Premier League safety with victory over lackluster Southampton. The Algerian forward found the net with a low drive on seven minutes and soon doubled his tally when turning home Jamie Vardy's pull-back.(Riyad Mahrez hit an early brace)

The text was very difficult. Translators one after another suggested hitting or squeezing early brackets (“hit an early brace”), and Google helpfully suggested curly braces as well. It's nice that all translators except SYSTRANet correctly identified the Leicester City club, and Yandex even put its name in quotation marks. Translate.Ru with football settings was the only one who correctly identified “net” as something related to the goal net: “The Algerian forward found the net ...” (“The Algerian forward found the net”), and Yandex was the only one who determined that he had found their forward (after which Yandex was no longer up to the gate). "Low drive" was both "low drive" (Yandex) and "low drive" (Bing), and ... But let's not talk about sad things (this does not mean that I was rooting for Southampton). Outperformed by SYSTRANet: "The Algerian front found a low-drive network..."

Gadgets. Phablets are essentially a larger phone or a smaller tablet with cellular radio capability. While there are smaller 8 inch tablets like the iPad Mini and Samsung Galaxy Tab 8 that sport cellular capability, the phablet definition is limited to screen sizes under 7 inches - perhaps that being the limit of how ridiculous it looks to put such a device to your ear to use as a phone. (Is the phablet the future of smartphones?)

All translators coped with the task: their translations made it possible to basically understand the meaning of the message. No one, however, has mastered the "sport". But the polite Translate.Ru translated: “ your ear» solely as "your ear".

Joke.

- Is it really true that everything between Rosalie and you, Michael, is over? A whole year you were keeping company.

- Just imagine!

- And did you tell her about your rich uncle whose only heir you are.

- It was just because I told her about it. She left me to become my auntie.

Em dashes have not become a problem in translation. Better than others coped with the task of Google and Yandex. Both thought that "She left me to become my aunt." True, Yandex for some reason decided to rename the hero to Mikhail.

Indirect speech.

He said I was pretty.

He said I was so intelligent.

He said I danced so well.

He said I had got lovely hair.

He said he would never forget that day.

Yandex turned out to be almost perfect. Judge for yourself:

He said I'm pretty.

He said I'm so smart.

He said that I danced so well.

He said I have beautiful hair.

He said he would never forget that day.

Google was also good. Curiously, however, Yandex considered the object of speech (having fine hair, cute and dancing well) as a lady, while Google suggested a male option, for example, "I got fine hair." But we must give him his due, among the translation options the feminine gender was also present. Perhaps this is where Yandex analyzes longer groups of words. Bing was undecided: sometimes the subject was a lady, sometimes a gentleman. SYSTRANet went furthest in its generalizations, using the neuter gender: "I danced so well." The last sentence was not easy for many test-takers. Variant from Translate: "He said he would never forget that day."

“So what is the best translator?” the reader will ask. If we are talking about a desktop translator “for every day”, then, in my opinion, it will be Google or Yandex.

Judge for yourself. All systems coped with the translation into Russian in approximately the same way: the result of their efforts made it possible to understand the meaning of the text. Unless, SYSTRANet lagged behind. If, in addition to the Russian language, you use Belarusian or Ukrainian, your choice is Google or Yandex. In terms of richness of possibilities, Google is the leader: it has document translation and voice input, which is not in Yandex. However, the translation of the entire document is a “feature” that is not very popular, since a zealous translator can spoil the formatting of the original document. Voice input is still exotic, although very promising. But in terms of regular translation, Yandex has made a significant step forward and now, perhaps, is not inferior to Google.

I also want to add that an alternative to an automatic translator can be a service of live online transfers. For example - Professional Online Translators.
