Impressions from Nizhny Novgorod - there will be no moving. About the city of Nizhny Novgorod Who lives in the city

Updated: 2018-12-6

Oleg Lazhechnikov

100

I went to Nizhny Novgorod after the inspiring stories of my friend, who recently visited there. Once I was already going there, but then there were no tickets and I left for Veliky Novgorod. This time I decided to try to get to (), and go back by train. Budget and fast.

In this post I will try to convey my impressions of the city. Since I was there only a day, this is only a superficial view, and I look at cities rather not from the point of view of historical and cultural heritage, but trying on myself whether I could live there or not. Actually, that's why I pay attention to what one could not notice, being a simple tourist. If you go to Nizhny, it’s still better to spend the night in a hotel there (), you can see much more.

What did you like

I was brought to the city immediately to the upper part, where I spent the whole day walking. Alexander Kotlov kept me company, thanks to him for that! We walked along the pedestrian street (Bolshaya Pokrovskaya), inside and along the walls of the Kremlin, went down to the Nizhne-Volzhskaya embankment, then climbed the Chkalovskaya stairs, rode down to Bor by cable car, after which we reached the Fedorovsky embankment and in the evening crossed the Kanavinsky bridge and reached the railway station. In a day it turned out about 15 km, great! Such walks are much more interesting than running in the morning, with which I still have no relationship. I have a separate post, .

The center of Nizhny Novgorod is quite pleasant. Although is it possible to say the word "center" here, if we are talking only about one part of the city (upper), and even, one might say, located on the outskirts? I don’t know what the residents call it, but I really liked this decentralization. You walk along Bolshaya Pokrovka: shops, cafes, restored houses, just like the Moscow Arbat, but you got into a car and after 10-20 minutes you are already in a residential area, it’s convenient.

Pedestrian street - Bolshaya Pokrovskaya

And if you live right next to the Kremlin, you can get a view from the window of the arrow, where the Oka and Volga merge, or just the Volga. And do you know what you will see across the river? Nothing! There is not another part of the city with dense residential development, but a forest! And it's great! I have already looked after a house on the Fedorovsky embankment, just from the top floor all the beauties will open. Imagine sitting by the window, writing an article, and there is a view ... Moreover, the view is eternal, it is very unlikely that it will be spoiled.

It was not in vain that I wrote that this “center” is on the outskirts. It is this feeling that is created, a certain airiness or something, because of the Volga, which is the border of the city, the look does not rest on anything. It is easy to breathe, you do not feel at all in the center of a city of a million people. After Moscow, it seems that he came to the suburbs, although this is not so. By the way, the second moment looms here, which I also liked - there is where to take a walk.

Yes, yes, Moscow also has parks and other places for walking, but I don’t have a promenade with a beautiful view 10-20 minutes from my house. However, in all smaller cities, it is much easier to get somewhere. Although in Moscow I don’t remember places with a non-urban landscape at all, the city will be visible on all the embankments and observation decks. And here at once both the upper embankments and the lower ones, I don’t want to walk, ride a bicycle. And most importantly, you will not get tired of walking in the same places so quickly. And I also had such an idea, you can take a bike and cross with it on the cable car to the other side, where there is absolutely expanse for rides.

There are a lot of people on the streets on a weekday, young people walk, relax, ride

What did not like

When I was driving with a driver through (applications:,) to Nizhny, the conversation turned on who would like to live where. He, who was born in Arzamas, but who created a business in Moscow, was going to return to his home sooner or later. native city. Moscow, with its eternal traffic jams, is fed up with him, the city is not for life, but for work, you don’t see your family. I completely agree and support, I also always wanted to live in a smaller town, but there is not enough civilization. The driver Sasha then asked me, what is missing? There are shops, museums, exhibitions, movement in Nizhny, where it takes only an hour and a half to go from Arzamas, and you can also go to Moscow for medicine, by car 5 hours or 4 hours by train. I didn't find anything to answer. His truth. Then, during a walk around Nizhny Novgorod, I realized what civilization means to me, in addition to all of the above.

Transitions are scary, in many there is no lighting

I agree, there are broken roads and sidewalks (why is there such a problem with them in Nizhny Novgorod?), there are dead courtyards in Moscow, they can be found, but there is nothing like this in large numbers anymore. Even the sleeping areas are now tidy, the garbage is removed, the borders and fences are painted, the flower beds are broken and the lawn is almost everywhere, modern playgrounds in every yard, everything is lit at night. Here's what ours looks like. There are few photos in the post, it was about something completely different, but we have a really modern and pretty area. Architecture is not for everyone, but it's better than the lower part of Novgorod near the Moscow Highway, where it's completely bleak. However, my photos were just from the upper part, we drove through the lower part by car (I didn’t take pictures from the window), and then I also walked around Yandex-Panoramas.

Someone will say, bourgeois / Muscovite snickering. Indeed, you can get used to everything. But does it make sense to get used to it? Here the answer will be different for everyone. I personally cannot yet exchange Moscow with its minuses for another city with its minuses, but the search continues slowly :) Conventionally, it is very important for me what my eyes see while I go to the store. Desolation drives you into depression and does not add optimism at all, and broken-down sidewalks without ramps (and entrances without ramps) make it very difficult to live, especially if you have to carry a baby/wheelchair every day along the street. When you are a tourist and you see the sights, you can ignore such things, but living every day in this is completely different. I remember Pushchino near Moscow

A gloomy, gloomy city. The center is pretty good, but the remote areas make a painful impression. A lot of neglected, dirty corners. Barracks are still preserved in some places. The level of culture of the population is low. At the same time, local residents do not notice the surroundings and without exception believe that they live in the "capital" of something there.

Negative. Among Nizhny Novgorod residents there is a concept of "Slavic" and "non-Slavic" appearance. If your appearance is a little "non-Slavic", then everywhere you will catch sidelong glances and receive a dismissive attitude. Probably it's all about the abundance of guests from Central Asia, which do not differ high culture and greatly annoyed the locals.

Highly heavy people. Morals are sometimes more abrupt than Moscow ones. Everyone is obsessed with money, money for almost all residents takes first place in the list of values. 70% of the topics discussed in conversations are also about money, salary, savings, shopping, etc. They like to throw words to the wind. If something is promised, there is a high probability that this promise will be safely forgotten. Rudeness and pushing in in public places is the norm and no one is outraged. Openly discussing someone else's life and dissolving gossip is also considered absolutely normal. Yes, there are gossips everywhere, but in Nizhny Novgorod almost everyone does this and no one considers it shameful. So they strive to get into your life and collect juicy details. In general, people are very reserved and unfriendly. In all matters, you should rely only on yourself. But there are pluses: Nizhny Novgorod residents are punctual and efficient, but at the same time they are too meticulous and petty. Personally, I got exactly this impression about the people in Nizhny.

Much colder than Moscow. Due to the high humidity, it feels 10 degrees less than it really is.

It's hard in Nizhny Novgorod without your own car. Transport runs quite rarely, there are also few routes for a million-plus city. Almost all buses are very old, not in the best condition. During frosts, minibuses are not heated, so traveling in transport over long distances in winter is not a pleasant task. The fare is 20 rubles. There are traffic jams during rush hour. At the same time, the driver can easily go off the route, by yards, in order to bypass the traffic jam without asking passengers. Accidents happen very often.

For a city with a population of one million, the prices are quite tolerable. It's okay to live on average salary in Nizhny is quite real.

Rent an apartment in the "zarechka" from 10 thousand rubles. Much more expensive downtown. Really find an apartment only through agencies. At the same time, the agent must be chosen carefully, "scam" is found at every step. It is rather problematic to rent a house quickly, it is unlikely that you will be able to find a suitable option in a couple of days.

The history of Nizhny Novgorod began in 1221, when it was founded by Prince Yuri Vsevolodovich to protect the borders of the Russian state. Under Ivan III, Nizhny was also assigned the role of a guard city, troops were constantly stationed here.

In the XIV century the city was the capital of the Nizhny Novgorod-Suzdal principality.

AT early XVII century, when the state was threatened with the loss of state independence, thanks to the city militia, led by the merchant Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, they managed to defeat the Polish interventionists and drive them out of Moscow.

Thanks to the advantageous geographic location Nizhny Novgorod has always been attractive for trade. Since ancient times, caravans of merchant ships have traveled along the Volga and Oka. In 1817, the famous Fair began in the city, setting prices for bread and other staples for the whole country. Trade also shaped the appearance of the city - many merchant houses, as well as churches and temples built at the expense of business people, have been preserved in it. And now one of informal names Nizhny is a "pocket of Russia", indicating its important role in the country's trade.

In 1932, the city was given the name Gorky, after the pseudonym of the Russian writer Alexei Peshkov, who was born here. In the 1930s, industry was rapidly developing in the city - many aviation and defense enterprises were launched, the Krasnoye Sormovo plant, the famous GAZ were launched.

AT postwar period in Gorky there were many industrial enterprises related to the defense of the state, so from 1959 to 1991 the city was inaccessible to foreign citizens. On October 22, 1990, Nizhny got its original name.

Today Nizhny Novgorod is the largest industrial, transport, scientific and Cultural Center country, a city with a non-standard appearance.

Attractions

The heart of Nizhny Novgorod is the Kremlin. The white-stone fortress wall of the majestic structure stretched for two kilometers. Next to the Kremlin is the highest embankment of the Volga, from which you can see great view to Strelka and the port. The date of construction of the Kremlin coincides with the time of the founding of the city itself, when Yuri Dolgoruky began to build a wooden fortress with earthen ramparts on the banks of the Volga. At the beginning of the 16th century, the Ivanovskaya Tower was erected, and the entire structure was built in 1515. Today, 12 out of 13 towers appear before us in their original form. There are many interesting objects on the territory of the Kremlin: a museum military equipment; Museum of the History of Nizhny Novgorod; Art Museum, in the collection of which are paintings by Aivazovsky, Roerich, Levitan, Kustodiev; Nizhny Novgorod Philharmonic. Michael the Archangel Cathedral is the oldest church in the city, which appeared here at the time of its foundation, and the only one of the five that were previously in the Kremlin. The main shrine of the temple is the icon of the Kazan Mother of God. In addition, the ashes of Kuzma Minin are kept in the Kremlin, there are monuments to Simon Suzdalsky, Minin and Pozharsky, Yuri Dolgoruky and the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War.

The Kremlin is on main square city named after Minin and Pozharsky. The Bolshaya Pokrovskaya pedestrian street originates from the square - a kind of Moscow Arbat. In the old days, the houses of wealthy merchants, nobles and aristocracy were concentrated here. The street is paved with paving stones, so it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes with low heels before visiting it. In the middle of Pokrovka is the building of the State Bank, built in the palace style and decorated with bas-reliefs and stone carvings. Near the building of the Nizhny Novgorod Drama Theater there is a monument to the famous actor Yevgeny Evstigneev. Curious sculptures add color to the street - here you can take a picture with the postman and his bicycle (opposite the Main Post Office); with a young lady admiring herself in the mirror (near the Oktyabr cinema); with the city, located at the very beginning of the street. Next to the Puppet Theater is the composition "Mother and Son", near the Faculty of Philology of the University - a monument to a spoon. In addition, on the street you can look at the monuments to a photographer, a cheerful goat, a violinist, a shoe shiner. House number 3 is the Palace of Labor, considered one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. From Bolshaya Pokrovskaya you can also get to Gorky, Lyadova and Teatralnaya squares.

Following from the Kremlin to the Volga, tourists get to the Verkhne-Volzhskaya embankment, which begins with a monument to the famous pilot Valery Chkalov. From the monument descends to the river Chkalovskaya stairs, consisting of 560 steps and 3 times higher than the Potemkin stairs in Odessa. On the embankment there is a museum-reserve "The Rukavishnikov Estate" - a magnificent example of a merchant's mansion of the end of the century before last.

The Nizhny Novgorod Fair is a large-scale architectural landmark that combines the Gostiny Dvor, the bypass canal, the Main Fair House, and the Spassky Old Fair Cathedral. Today the fair is the largest exhibition complex in the country.

Since the founding of the city, the history of the Annunciation Monastery (Melnichiy lane, 8) has also been leading its history. The temple was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky himself and St. Simon. Now the monastery houses a theological seminary, and in the Alexis Church, located on its territory, a rare porcelain iconostasis has been installed, similar to it only in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Valaam.

Near the public transport stops "Freedom Square" and "Opera and Ballet Theatre" there is a building resembling an impregnable castle - the Nizhny Novgorod prison, an old prison. Now the building houses a museum where you can see the cells, the punishment cell, the prison church, as well as visit the exhibition.

One of the most beautiful sights of the city is the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (bus stop "Gnilitsy"). From the inside, the five-domed temple is decorated with carvings on white stone and magnificent ornaments. Icons important for Christians are kept in the church: Nikolay Ugodnik, Filaret of Moscow, Seraphim of Sarov. The temple is crowned with a golden cross with a weather vane and a unique old clock showing not only the time, but also the solar and lunar phases.

The Church of the Assumption on Ilinskaya Hill is a beautiful architectural monument of the 17th century. The temple is located in the historic district of Zapochainye, where you can see other sights of the city - Peter's House, the Pushnikov and Olisov Chambers, the Church of Elijah the Prophet and the Myrrh-Bearing Women.

Other places of worship in Nizhny Novgorod worth visiting: Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist; Cathedral of the Right-Believing Prince Alexander Nevsky; Ascension Monastery.

Do you want any of your wishes to come true? Go to the Sormovo district, where near the houses No. 166-168 along Komintern Street there is a “Pyatak” - a monument to a five-kopeck coin. Local residents and guests of Nizhny Novgorod trust him with their cherished dreams and believe that they will come true. The monument to the coin is a popular place for newlyweds who come on their wedding day to ask Pyatak for prosperity for their young family.

If a person decides to move from one city to another, then, probably, he has good reasons for this. We will not ask why his choice fell on the capital of the Volga region, but simply consider moving to Nizhny Novgorod with all its positive and negative sides.

General impressions

Nizhny Novgorod is one of the largest cities in Russia. It is the administrative center of the Volga Federal District. In terms of population - a little more than 1 million 200 thousand people - it is in fifth position among all cities of the Russian Federation. The distance to Moscow is approximately 400 km. It occupies an area of 466 and a half square kilometers. Two rivers flow through the city: the Volga and the Oka.

It is an important industrial, economic, cultural and historical center of the country. Important transport and shipping routes pass through it.

The climate zone in which the city is located is temperate continental. Hence the average winter temperature is from -10 º to -20 º C, the average summer temperature is +15 º to +20 º C. Residents moving from the southern regions should keep this fact in mind.

The city includes 8 districts. A pleasant moment: there are many green spaces in the urban area, including 15 parks, squares, and gardens. Forest parks encircle the suburban part.

The industry in Nizhny Novgorod is diverse - these are heavy, light, food industries. The industry is represented by machine and shipbuilding, metalworking and defense enterprises, leather and hosiery, shoe and clothing enterprises, highly developed Information Technology. There are also enterprises for the production of food - a dairy, meat, sausage factories. The presence of functioning factories, factories and other enterprises in the city increases the chances for those who move to find a job and have a steady income. But in turn, the intensive development of industry disrupts the ecological balance of the region, which negatively affects the air-water basin.

Nizhny Novgorod is a city with a long history, which is why there are so many architectural, historical and cultural monuments on its territory. Among the religious buildings are world-famous churches, temples, cathedrals, monasteries, which attracts tourists, not only from our state, but also from abroad. In addition, a large number of theaters, museums, libraries and other cultural institutions can be noted. So, there is something to see and where to fully spend your leisure time.

Young people have the opportunity to study at higher educational institutions(universities, academies, institutes, conservatories) and specialized secondary schools (technical schools, colleges).

We are planning a move

If accepted final decision move to Nizhny Novgorod, then first you need to carefully consider some points:

  • solve the housing problem;
  • start looking for a job;
  • discuss what to take with you and how to transport things.

All these issues are not resolved in an hour or two. They need to be dealt with in advance. On the Internet, you should find suitable housing, work and find out how furniture and other household items are transported.

Buying an apartment is the most expensive moving item. The cost of real estate in Nizhny Novgorod in 2017 (in rubles) is as follows:

  • 1-room apartment - from 2 million 400 thousand;
  • 2-room apartment - from 3 million 400 thousand;
  • 3-room apartment - from 4 million 800 thousand;
  • 4-room apartment - from 8 million rubles.

It should be noted that the price is indicated on the secondary market, therefore, new real estate will cost even more. The average price for 1 square meter is about 63 thousand rubles. Compared to February, prices fell slightly, on average by about 3%. Among the five largest cities in Russia by cost square meter housing occupies the 4th place, which is shared with Novosibirsk.

If those who are moving have friends or relatives from Nizhny Novgorod, this will be the biggest plus and will help save time and money. If there are none, then you will have to search for options yourself. First you need to rent an apartment for the first time, until you have your permanent home. You can search for an apartment via the Internet or during trips to the city, which will take extra time and money, and this is a minus.

You can rent a one-room apartment in the center of Nizhny Novgorod from 10 thousand rubles, a two-room apartment - from 18 thousand. Prices are, of course, approximate and subject to change. Staying for the first time is also possible in hotels, but it costs even more. The sooner you get your own apartment, the less you will have to give your money for rent. You can hire a realtor to help you find a home for you. And thus, by the time you move to the capital of the Volga region, several options for apartments or houses will be waiting for you. This will help speed up the purchase of your property and reduce the time spent in a rented apartment.

In advance, you can find a school or Kindergarten if you are moving with young children. Of course, it is unrealistic to agree on the Internet about the admission of your children to children's institutions. But you will find out for yourself in which area there are more such institutions and where it will be easier for you to arrange your children.

Choice of housing

Here are some tips to help you choose a home.

The selection of an apartment must be approached very carefully, because they buy an apartment or a house for a long time, if not forever. You should take into account the area in which you want to live, its remoteness from industrial enterprises, transport routes connecting this part of the city with others, the availability of infrastructure (clinics, shops, schools, kindergartens, etc.), the presence of nearby green areas for recreation, and much more. . It all depends on the individual needs of the migrants. Be sure to find out what kind of reputation the area has in terms of the criminal situation (whether your children will be able to walk quietly here, and you yourself can return home in the evening).

Directly when choosing housing, you should pay attention to the general condition of the premises, plumbing, find out when last time repairs were carried out, deterioration of pipes. It all depends on what kind of housing is preferred, an old mansion in the center or an apartment in a new building.

The cost of housing in Nizhny Novgorod depends on the area in which it is located. The most expensive apartments in the prestigious Nizhny Novgorod district, located in the very center. The cheapest housing is in the Sormovsky and Avtozavodsky districts, which have a somewhat dubious reputation, although one must pay tribute to the quality of the local apartments and well-developed infrastructure. A compromise option would be the acquisition of housing in such areas of the city as Prioksky and Sovetsky.

If you have started looking for a job in advance, then after the move you can immediately begin to fulfill your duties.

Transportation of things

Nizhny Novgorod is a million-plus city located on the spit of the Oka and Volga rivers. Historically known for its fair, for which at one time it received the unofficial name "pocket of Russia". 200 years ago, Griboyedov ridiculed the "mixing of French with Nizhny Novgorod." And later Maxim Gorky was born here, so in Soviet times the city was named after the writer. For some reason, many visitors like to shorten its name to “Novgorod”, making the eye of the native twitch, because it is correct to say “Nizhny” so as not to confuse it with another, Veliky Novgorod, located in the North-Western District.

From Moscow to Nizhny can be reached in just four hours by high-speed trains "Sapsan", "Lastochka" and "Strizh". Over the weekend in the city, you will have time to see the local Kremlin, stroll along the embankments and get acquainted with new street art. This summer, it will also host matches of the World Cup, including the quarter-final game. urban environment

The city consists of two parts - upper and lower. In the lower one (aka "district"), sleeping and industrial areas are mainly located. The auto giant GAZ is located here, as well as a railway station, an airport and a new stadium built specifically for the 2018 World Cup. And for walks it is customary to go to the “top”: museums, theaters, exhibition complexes and centers contemporary art are here.

The main sign and unofficial symbol of the city is the blue fence, which filled the streets like a weed. He was especially disgusted by everyone in the area of the Nizhne-Volzhskaya embankment - there he disfigures the promenade along the river. For the World Cup, the hated fence from the embankment should finally be removed, opening a restored walking area. In addition to fences, you can see many works of street artists in the city. There are even special street art tours, the routes of which are constantly updated with new graffiti and installations.

Housing

from 10 thousand rubles - rent a one-room apartment

The simplest odnushka at some distance from the center can be rented for 10-11 thousand per month. If you search long and hard, you can find something not quite ancient in the upper part. Recently, in a week, I found a great option not far from the center for 22 thousand rubles. This is a completely new apartment, it was specially bought for rent, and we were lucky to be the first to find this freshly renovated option.

If we talk about buying a home, then a new odnushka in the upper part of the city, but not in the center, can be bought for 2.5–2.8 million rubles. Resales are, of course, cheaper (about 2 million for a one-room apartment), and prices are falling due to a large number new buildings. A friend of mine recently bought a large three-ruble house in the upper part of the city with furniture for 3.8 million rubles, you can find housing in the lower part for one and a half million.

Accommodation for tourists in the city is usually inexpensive: the price of a room in a decent international hotel (Hampton, Courtyard, Azimut, Ibis) starts from 2-3 thousand rubles per day. But on matchdays, prices predictably skyrocketed. Some apartment owners are also trying to make money on short-term rent.

Transport

28 rubles per ticket

You can move around the city by buses, minibuses, trolleybuses, trams and metro. There is also a cable car to the town of Bor, where the glass factory is located. Tourists can simply ride on it back and forth. The ticket price for the cable car is 100 rubles.

When moving for short distances, I recommend using a taxi - within the center of the trip they will cost about 100 rubles. To quickly get from one end of the city to the other, it is better to use the metro. True, there is only one station in the upper part, but in the very center - on Gorky Square. From there you can rush off even to the Leninsky district, even to the Avtozavod, even to Sormovo. And one of these days the station opens on Meshchera, where the new stadium is located.

The cost of a ticket for any type of public transport is 28 rubles if paid in cash and 26 rubles if paid by bank transfer. And there is also the magical 71st minibus, it runs quite often, the route is convenient - and, attention, it is round-the-clock!

If you need to get somewhere with transfers, you can buy a transport card and use it to buy a ticket for an hour (26 rubles) or one and a half (40 rubles). True, you will not be allowed into private minibuses with it.

Products

8-10 thousand rubles per month per person

The most popular grocery chains in the city are Spar, Pyaterochka, Magnit. For global purchases a week ahead, Nizhny Novgorod residents prefer Auchan, Lenta, Okay or Metro. If you do not arrange dinner parties and receptions with caviar and other delicacies, you can spend 2,000–2,500 rubles on food per week. Bread costs 20–40 rubles, a dozen eggs - 50–60 rubles, milk - 30–50 rubles per liter, cucumbers - 80–100 rubles per kilogram, tomatoes - 100–150 rubles, apples - 100 rubles, chicken fillet - 200– 250 rubles, beef - 350-400 rubles, pork - 250-300 rubles, red fish such as salmon or trout - 800-1,000 rubles. By the way, for fish it is better to go to the Sea & More grocery stores - there are several of them in the city, and they specialize exclusively in fish and seafood.

There are also several markets in the city. One of the most relevant and modern is the Firebird mall on Sovetskaya Square. There is also a food court similar to the Danilovsky market in Moscow.

Cafes and restaurants

about 1000 rubles for dinner per person

For the past few years, Georgian restaurants have been very popular in Nizhny Novgorod for some reason, and they keep popping up. They are similar to each other and personally my imagination does not excite. Another Nizhny Novgorod gastrotrend is burgers. In this category, I would note "Salute" on Oktyabrskaya Street, from which this trend began. In addition to really tasty burgers at reasonable prices (180–250 rubles), people come here for the atmosphere and party.

The new wave of fast food that is now sweeping the city is related to hot dogs. The main locations are: Shell on Piskunov, Oh My Dog on Ilyinka and Top Hot Dog on Minin Street. My personal favorite is a hot dog with chicken sausage at Top for 240 rubles.

Closing the topic of street food, which we hold in high esteem, I would like to note two more points: the Freakadely cafe, where they cook bombing chicken and meat meatballs (a killer combo with a side dish and cole-slow - 190 rubles), and Noot falafel with hummus from 169 rubles for portion and falafel in pita for 159 rubles.

If you want a bit of European charm and bohemianism, look into Negroni Bar & Enoteca opposite the Comedy Theatre. Now a wonderful summer veranda has been opened there, where you can languidly drink sparkling wine, crunch on bruschetta and admire the elegant muse Thalia that adorns the entrance to the theater. The average bill here will be about a thousand rubles, if you do not lean on sparkling.

Another interesting location is the Rozas Mexican bar, recently opened at the Zelensky Congress. Here they cook excellent quesadilla - one of the best in the city (310 rubles for an impressive portion). The Rozas also has a cool interior, an excellent cocktail list and mariachi songs that make you want to immediately start dancing.

The main party place that is impossible not to visit is the Herring and Coffee bar on Rozhdestvenskaya Street. Parties here almost every day, whether it's weekdays or weekends. Summer evenings are usually so full here that a cheerful crowd that does not fit in a small bar fills part of the street with itself, creating an impromptu open air. Prices in "Herring" are quite affordable, you can have a spree here for a thousand, and even 500 rubles.

Entertainment

200–250 rubles - ticket to the museum

from 120 rubles - cinema ticket

100–6,000 rubles - theater ticket

I strongly recommend visiting the Arsenal Center for Contemporary Art in the Kremlin - after restoration, several large halls are working here and, as a rule, several exhibitions are held at the same time. The cost of a single ticket for all exhibitions is 200 rubles. And on Wednesdays you can generally go everywhere for free.

There is also a gallery of modern art Futuro, located in a historic building on Rozhdestvenskaya. There are two halls and a Futuro Store inside, where you can buy your own piece of modern art at reasonable prices. The ticket price for the exhibition is 200 rubles. After visiting the gallery with this ticket, you can go to the Herring, which is located directly opposite, and get coffee or tea for free. Wednesday is also a free day.

The Nizhny Novgorod State Art Museum exhibits Albrecht Dürer's originals throughout the summer. Ticket price - 250 rubles.

And of course, it would be strange not to ride a river bus in a city at the confluence of two rivers. There are several berths at the Nizhny Novgorod river station, from where various walking routes along the Oka and Volga, with or without entertainment programs, regularly start. Prices - 300-800 rubles.
